That would be the exact 60's look > I'm thinking of. I answer: I went back and read your original message and realized that you were talking about cars you'd seen in California (Venice, no less...). I've had the stripes painted on my car for almost three years now -- we just celebrated our fourth anniversary in the middle of June -- and although striped Miatas are somewhat more common now, mine was the first I know of and still may be the only silver-on-blue. While a lot of folks have asked why I didn't go with white instead, most have been complimentary about the way it turned out. With respect to the numbers, I thought about using black Helvetica on white meatballs like the Cobras did, but that would only *really* work if I ran either 98 or 99 (the factory team's traditional numbers). My number is 22 (or occassionally 212), though, so I chose to go with the silver "eurostyle" numerals and class letters to match the rest of the car. By the way, I solved the issue of whether to continue the stripes over the windshield header by painting the header gloss black. I like it a lot better than leaving it body color, and it makes the car look quite a bit lower as well. - Steve Bruun
