About the rev limiter: It doesn't cut off spark, actually. If it did that, you'd be pushing a *huge* charge of fuel-air mixture into the exhaust; much more than the catalytic converter could handle. Picture the results when the revs dropped below 7 grand. no exhaust system. :-( What the rev limiter actually cuts off is the fuel injection. Spark with no fuel is fine.
