WRT hood spacers and similar stuff: It isn't really needed. According to a reliable source, and with verification of the results by myself, the temperature in the air intake snorkel with the engine up around 6 grand, after 10 minutes on the highway, is still only 126 degrees F. Given that you can get cooler air from outside the engine compartment, the difference between 126 degrees and the outside temperature is only going to gain you *maybe* 5 horsepower tops. And that gain isn't enough to be worth the cost of ruining the lines of the car, or the expense of something like the Jackson Cold Air Induction kit. The temperature difference accounts for only part of the Jackson system's improvement, of course. The rest comes from the forced induction design of the intake. Though I *do* wonder about the temperature of the air as it enters the intake manifold, after traversing that long black plastic tube that passes right in front of the engine and right behind the radiator...
