The rear braces have to mount to strong attachment points, and your package shelf is made of tinfoil. You cut the package shelf, and mount the bar to the frame, I'd bet. > > It's hard to tell from the one picture: how close is the driver's > head to the bar when the seat is as far aft as it will travel? > Probably a couple of inches. At most. SCCA Solo II rules suggest that a roll bar be no more than 6 inches behind the driver's helmet. But don't be discouraged from getting and installing one just on my sayso. There are good reasons to put a roll bar in a Miata. For one thing, you can't put in a racing harness without a roll bar meeting the height requirement in SCCA Solo II. For another, though the roll bar is of course not guaranteed by the manufacturer, it might actually save your life. -- Ken *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Ken Warren |"Nothing good has ever been reported about the | full rotation of a race car about either its E-Mail: kenw@netaxs.com| pitch or roll axis."
