From: Jeff Cerier Subject: Stereo wiring Date: Mon, 16 Aug 1993 08:16:13 -0400
I think I've given up on the idea discussed here a few weeks back of installing a hidden ("stealth") stereo in my base 91. I'm now thinking of a removable faceplate CD/AM/FM. Question: My car has -no- options - meaning no radio, antenna, speakers. I'm wondering how much wiring I'll have to do to put a stereo in. I have found the antenna plug in the trunk. In a no radio 91 is there wiring for: 1. A power antenna (power and line from radio to tell in to go up/dn). 2. Stereo (power, light dimmer, etc.) 3. Door speakers (no wires are visible in the door jam). 4. Headrest speakers (probably no wire in the seats, but how about under the carpet/console, or wherever they are supposed to be routed?) Any help would be appreciated. Also - anyone know where I can get cloth (ie not leather) seat covers -without- the Miata logos??? I don't need to advertise the car any more than it already does by just sitting there ;^) . Jeff.
