About the potential damage from hitting the rev limiter - from what I can tell from the messages I have probably hit the limiter the hardest. When our local clubs was doing hot laps at Road America I tried to skip a gear in a downshift. I was going 100+ down the front straight in 4th gear. I braked for turn 1 and instead of going into 3rd gear I opted for 2nd. The problem was that I was going 70+ at the time. I think the tach hit 8K or so. Anyone who pushes their car knows the top speed in second is about 55-60mph. There seemed to be no problems with the engine in any way during my next six laps or even on the drive home. I think the common valve chatter occured on the first startup after the laps, but not since. -alex- Alex M.
