Excuse the non-Miata content, but this seems like a good group to ask... Has anyone seen/used the Uniden scanner/alarm? This has been advertised in Autoweek, R&T, etc. It's about the size of a largish radar detector. Scans the highway patrol/police bands and can set off a light/alarm when activity is sensed. You enter in the state you're driving in. Supposedly it picks up the signal from a secondary transmitter used in police vehicles, with a range of around 3 miles. Can also be set to scan weather and DOT channels for weather (surprise) and highway information. Costs around $150-200. Anyway, seems like a potentially useful adjunct to a radar detector. Any information on firsthand experiences with it would be appreciated.
