i recall a couple others mentioning some radio gremlins recently, but i forget the details, so perhaps this will rekindle some memories... my radio (1990, Pkg A. radio with in-dash CD player) has recently suffered brain damage on two occasions. the attacks occurred 2 or 3 weeks apart. in each case, the circumstances were almost identical, as described below: - the car was left parked for a day or more, in mostly foggy weather on the Maine coast. don't know if dampness plays a role here, but it's possible. - after i turned on the car, i pushed the radio button so i could listen to the red sox lose. the led's flipped from the clock time to the radio station for an instant, and then back to the clock time. repeated pushing of the button had the same results. the CD player worked fine. - after driving for a few minutes, i tried again, and i got the radio for about 1 second, then it flipped off automatically and the clock was displayed again. - for the hell of it, i held down the "clock" button to see if i could set the time. the whole display started blinking, changed to 4:00, and i couldn't change the time. i decided 4:00 was okay for now, so pressed "clock" again to accept the time. repeating the process produced the same results. - after driving for about 10 or 15 minutes, everything magically worked fine. i could set the clock, listen to the radio, etc. other than these 2 episodes, i've never had any problem. any ideas? a loose or poor connection somewhere? is my radio preparing for an early demise? -- Ken Buck /| Internet: k.buck@ma30.bull.com 'o.O' ACK!
