Please, do me a favor: next time you approach your Miata, go to the
passenger front and press firmly on the panel below the centerline of
the tire between the passenger door and the wheel well, and then try
the same on the driver side, and then please please write me a letter
saying that the panel on the passenger side mashes in.

In the process of spraying copious amounts of Raid into the wheel
well to quell a massive ant uprising, I pressed, it gave, and I
panicked. BUT, a fellow (though not friendly) Miata owner's car
yielded to surreptitious testing in a similar manner, so it's at
least common to two machines.
