there are pros and cons, obviously.
i have one, but i realize it's only of limited use.
i'd like to add a pager unit, and might consider disconnecting
the siren altogether, since alarms are (as you say) annoying
to others and largely ignored anyway.

of course even if you had an alarm with a pager with
infrared "invasion detection", that probably wouldn't have
_prevented_ the crime you describe, since it probably took
all of 20 seconds or so and the thieves probably didn't care
much if the alarm went off or not.

nope.

BTW, if the local Mazda place charges too much, either check the prices
at Honey Mazda (advertises in the Miata Magazine) or consider the
aftermarket soft tops sold by 'Motorsport' (also advertises in the
Miata magazine).  the Motorsport replacement soft top is listed for $397.
