From: Jim Dobbins Subject: After-market Grill Trouble Date: Mon, 9 Aug 1993 20:13:52 -0400 Have any of you encountered problems with those nifty aftermarket grills that are sold to look neat and keep stuff from getting to the front of the radiator? .... it definitely caused my temperature gauge to read hotter. I don't have a grill, but I've noticed that the Miata gets hotter under the hood than any other car I've owned. The Miata warms up much faster and cools down much slower than any car I have experience with. The heater is operational almost immmediately, and several hours after driving it is still *very* warm under the hood. Perhaps this is due to a hard-working engine and a small, well-sealed underhood space. I am definitely interested in rerouting my air intake to the front of the car! A grill is a nice idea for protecting the radiator, but the ones I've seen have holes that are just too small for this "hot" car.
