This seems to be a much cooler area - with considerable outside air coming over and around the radiator. There would be little ram-air effect, but the intake air would be cooler. The new snorkel would be about 1/2 the length and straighter than the stock snorkel, which could slightly change the "tuning" of the power curve. What do you think??" That might be a good low-cost option for those folks who still have the stock intake. The HKS system relocates the air filter in such a way as to prevent this. My problem is compounded by the Millen header which requires the heat shield on the exhaust manifold to be removed. Underhood temperatures are noticeably increased, and the air intake is right by the header! The only other option I've seen that might work for me is to cut a few 2 inch diameter holes in the firewall right below the hood line. Air would be drawn in right at the base of the windshield where the wipers sit. I saw a guy with a Car Tech turbo that had done it and said it worked pretty well. I wouldn't think structural integrity would be compromised. I would go one step further and put a box around the intake so only cold air came through the firewall holes. -Al
