The hardtop makes it alot easier, especially if you have the rear window defogger - which the '93 should be wired for. *Not* having one isn't *that* much colder since there really aren't too many cubic feet that need to be heated. However, the advantages of the hardtop are: 1) Far better rear visibility than the soft top. 2) Much quieter ride. 3) Slightly stiffer body. Better handling. 4) A little warmer since there's really no cracks for air to get in. 5) Its like getting a new car twice a year.
