Ken: I never had a real problem with the stock manual transmission fluid or transmission. Tthere was just a slight notchiness when going from 1st to 2nd until the car warmed up. I changed to MT-90 because of the BBR turbo thinking that synthetic oil might have some advantages with the increase in power. In my transmission, MT-90 didn't make much of a difference in the shift feel so I tried to MTL. I only did this several weeks ago so based on a revious comment on the list I'll pay special attention to be sure that there is no change in shifting especially when the transmission oil might be hot. Also, what was Mazda the Service Bulletin concerning the notchy shifting from 1st to 2nd? Did they recommend a replacement of the synchros ora change in the transmission oil to a lighter grade. Its interesting that the Dealer once changed the transmission oil on his own and said that he did so because he had to replace a rear seal. However, I never noticed a transmission oil leak. I wonder if it was related to the Service Bulletin? Herb Samuels
