I have two Mazda's, a 323 and an RX-7 with over 100K and I've always changed them ever 5000 miles. The Miata, however, does get preferred treatment. Is there any scientific, peer reviewed evidence that modern formulations of motor oil actually need to be changed at the intervals recommended by the Marketing Departments of the Oil Companies?
