Mazda recommends and will honor the warranty if the oil is changed
5000-7500 miles depending on how hard conditions are. The oil
companies with their franchised "drive-in & out" quick lubes
market that you should change every 3000 miles. Whose going to make
money?

I have two Mazda's, a 323 and an RX-7 with over 100K and I've 
always changed them ever 5000 miles. The Miata, however, does
get preferred treatment. Is there any scientific, peer reviewed
evidence that modern formulations of motor oil actually need
to be changed at the intervals recommended by the Marketing
Departments of the Oil Companies?
