I think that I mentioned previously that back in the 70s, GM introduced an air intake system designed to take asvantage of the increased pressure at the base of the windshield. GM called it "Cowl Induction." I would assume that the difference between the windshield angles between the Miata and those GM products might be slightly different, but would also expect that there is still a pressure increase (above ambient) at that location on the Miata. I know better than to make assumptions however and I would want to have some better data on this pressure before cutting sheet metal so near being exposed. Maybe I'll do some tuft tests.
