I was a passenger in a VW rabbit when it went through a puddle about 1 foot deep. Being college boys, we thought it was a lot of fun. However, the poor fuel injected rabbit sucked a significant ammount of water in through the air intake system for the fuel injection, which resulted in the head being literally blown off the block. The mounting studs were actually ripped out of solid metal. What happened is that water flowed down the intake runner and directly into a cylinder, and being non compressible, blew the head off. Extremely messy! The engine was not even usable for parts, as the head, block, and rods were all damaged. (And we were standing in the middle of an intersection in the pouring rain!) Steve
