From: RMCELEARNEY@delphi.com Subject: Air Intake Date: Fri, 15 Oct 1993 06:06:10 -0400
After a lot of deliberation over the pros and cons of rerouting the intake to the left edge of the fan shroud v.s. cutting a 2" hole in the firewall to get cold air from the cowling, I'm inclined to route the intake to the cowling area, especially since the air pressure in that area will tend to be higher than ambient. There were also comments about the possibility of water getiing in if one starts mucking around with the intake location and I believe I have paid heed to these warnings in planning how to do this. The following is a left side view of the cowling area and what I hope will be the answer to fresh cold air sans water, even on the rainiest of days: I _________________I________ \ \ \ ____________________ \ I \ \ I \ I FIREWALL ----> I \ I I \__ __I I /\ I /\ I INTAKE I___________________________________________ I want to connect the end of the intake hose to a wet/dry vac nozzle. I believe this will spread the vacuum created by the engine over a wider area and prevent water from being sucked in during a rainstorm. Any comments will be appreciated!
