Should I consider snow tires? What are the relevant criteria for this decision? Any recommendations for snow tires? I commmuted during the last 2 winters (50 mi/day roundtrip) from downtown Boston to route 128, with Yokohama A509's, which is notoriously bad in snow, so it's possible. It was a real pain at times, though; so I wouldn't recommend it to any sane person. I used to also drive around in Stuttgart's winters with my 911 shod with bald Pirelli P7's, spinning my way to work trying to emulate Erik Carlson, actually, more like Satch Carlson. So I am determined to get snow tires this winter. Nokia Hakkapelletta (major spelling problem here! hell, vowels are cheap in Finland) were highly recommended to me in the past, but has anyone tried the new Bridgestone Blizzak? Automobile mag. raved about these, and they run $68/tire from Teletire for 185-60x14, they look like they should be much quieter than the Nokia's but does anyone have any personal experience? I have used Pirelli 190's and Conti's in the past with good results. - Steve.
