They are great tires, and I can't think of any reason to worry about the size. They are a little wider and virtually the same height as the 185/65-14. I use 205/55-14 Yoko RS II for autocross and they are certainly not too big. I think 190/60 is perfect for a good street tire on the Miata (on stock wheels). You'll have to get used to a slightly more aggressive look, but I like it. I don't find that they give a harsher ride, either. BTW, if you're looking at Dunlop high performance, consider the SP8000. If I'd known about them before I got this last set of D40's I might have gone with them, although the D40 is a terrific tire and I think the difference is slight (I drove both in a slalom at Gold Rush).
