The Miata is most often more fun with the top down. Mostly I drive it with the top down. I often wave at other Miatas, because there is something kind of grat- ifying in having someone wave back. People don't always wave back. If there is any reason I want the top up, I put it up. If I want one window, or the other, up or down, I put 'em up or down. If someone doesn't wave back, oh well. Sometimes I don't wave, and a Miata waves at me, and I've passed before I can wave back. Oh well. What's the point? Purists are about as infuriating as bigots or rel- igious fanatics. A true purist doesn't give a crap. That's the thing about a car like the Miata, isn't it? Jaguar and Porsche owners are supposed to act like that, (and art critics), according to your standard stereotypical status quo outlook. Isn't there some kind of reverse pretensiousness going on here? Live and let live. "Y'all deserve it", he said, as he holstered his flamethrower.
