I've been using a Solo from Escort (formerly Cincinatti Microwave) for the past
year and it seems perfectly adequate.  Not much falsing, good enough warning
on all of the laser encounters I've been aware of.  It's cordless, which is
why I bought it as well.  I got it from Damark as a reconditioned unit for
$129.  I don't know if they still sell them or not.  They claim the battery
should go 100 hours.  I doubt I'm getting that much, probably closer to 60
or 70 hours.  Maybe it has to do with the number of encounters.  Anyway, I'm
happy with it.
