I have a detector with a cord, the BEL 966W.  I clipped it to the left
side of the driver's side visor, and ran the cord down the left frame of
the windshield.  The cord is hooked behind the dashboard and stays
put.  It's pretty unobtrusive that way.  I always unplug it and put it
in the console when the car is parked in a public place.
