From: Herb Samuels Subject: Re: Speaking of the '94s - BRAKES Date: Thu, 7 Oct 1993 08:41:34 -0400
I read the short article in the November Car and Driver (or was it Road and Track?) about the 94 Miata. The 1.8 l engine gave just slightly more acceleration, the body was less rigid that the 90-93s (although they said that it was a pre-production car). Also they said that the car had revised roll bars and shocks to ride slightly smoother. They didn't comment on how this affects handling. However, as mentioned by someone on the list before they thought that the brakes were outstanding and stopped the car shorter from 70 mph than the ZX300 twin turbo and the Corvette LT1. There is a 0.8 inch increase in size of the brake rotors. It wasn't clear what other changes there might be in the brakes. Since the car still has 14 inch wheels it might be possible to use the 94 rotors or other brake parts on 90-93 Miatas. Has anyone who has had first hand experience with the 94 checked into this to determine if it is possible? Herb Samuels
