From: MANSON@fsd.com Subject: Idle speed drop Date: Wed, 10 Nov 1993 07:37:49 -0500
Greetings Miateers, Several weeks or months ago, there was a thread concerning engine speed droop when shifting into neutral and coming to a stop at an intersection or wherever. At the time I had not experienced that condition and so paid little attention. This morning for the first time I have experienced such an RPM droop while driving to work. The temperature outside was cool, but not as cool as yesterday when the engine ran perfectly. There are 15,000 miles on the vehicle, and the only accessory I have is AC (no A, B, or C packages). There has been no change in lubricants, gasoline, timing, or intake configuration. What was the result of the earlier discussion on the speed droop? [The engine speed droops to roughly 200-300 rpm (based on crude tach readings), and the car shudders slightly as if it is about to stall. The speed recovers then - I have much faith that it will not stall - and everything is fine again after about 2 seconds.] BTW, I observed Andy Poling obtaining a very nice time at an autox in Hunt Valley. in Hunt Valley, MD this past Sunday. If I heard correctly, his time bested everyone except a modified Lotus super 7. Congratulations Andy. Alex Postpischil posted some respectable times as well. Tom Manson Manson@fsd.com
