I have a 1990 red model (purchased on July 1, 1989 -- saw them in the
chicago auto show in April of 89 so got the first one in town THAT
WAS FUN!).  It is an early A model with NO limited slip and 65,000
miles on the clock.  Has 2 month old clutch (stock), pressure plate,
etc.  Recent 60,000 mile check.  Almost all of the inferior lifters
have already been replaced (how many of you are having that problem).
 The top was replaced about 18 months ago due to vandals on trip to
South Padre Island.

I just ran across a possible deal on dealer trade for newer 1990
model: B package so includes speakers in the headrest (worth nothing
to me except possible resale value) cruise (nice addition) and power
windows (means you could put bigger door speakers in the buggy.  This
one also has limited slip, hard top, AND 9,000 miles.  Dealer sold
and serviced.  Possible trade for $3,000!  Any thoughts?  Anyone
interested in a deal on a hard top in red?  Not sure I want to keep
that.  Am concerned about major faded paint.  Am going to borrow
perhaps saturday and try cleaning it up to see how serious this is.

Would appreciate any quick reactions...

We still have no '94 models in the area.  Have the new brochure.
Like the wheels much better.  But not the price tag.
