Having been on Compuserve for a while, I'd like to point out that the monthly digest is being uploaded to the library in the Miataville section of the Automotive forum NOT by CIS (the company), but by one of the subscribers (who happens to be the sysop for the auto forum). Andy is right, in that CIS charges for connect time and not content/files. CIS charges are based on how long you stay online in the forum. They charge ~$9/hour whether you read the message or download it. CIS charges around 25 cents per message(up to ~7500 characters)... I think it is safe to say that Shel Hall is not uploading the messages to make money for anyone, but to make the info available to a large number of MIata owners. I do agree that we should make some policy about use of writing/content of our messages. I feel that everyone on the net does a good job of maintaining "decency" in the written word, so that we need not worry about censorship. I am in favor of allowing anyone who has access the right to use my messages in other publications, as long as I am informed. SOme people, I realize, may want to be asked for permission to use their writing by others. This will probably need clarification by the subscribers. Also, is our writing copywritten? FWIW, Andy Cork (owner/operator of Brainstorm) has a CompuServe account. I don't know his address/user number, but maybe someone who uses both services can provide it? -alex- Alex M.
