I recently had a couple of dents removed from my hood by a paintless
dent removal place.  He did some work on my previous car, and this
time he let me watch. 

All he does is press the metal back into shape.  He has a set of tools
that he uses.  It seemed to me more of an art than a technical thing.
I know that with all the tools he had, I couldn't have done the same 
thing,  I can barely tell where the dents were; and aluminum is much 
harder to do than steel.  

The whole process took ~20 min, and cost me $40.  Worth every penny.

Make sure whomever does the work knows what they are doing.  There
are a lot of them that don't I'm told.
