From: Jeff Maurer Subject: mx5 brakes and more power Date: Tue, 2 Nov 1993 17:12:29 -0500
In recent discussions of increasing the horsepower on the Miata, several people have suggested that turbocharging or supercharging would require mods to the brakes as well. While I wouldn't argue that better brakes and tires are "good things", do people really think that the stock brakes are insufficent to handle 40-50 more horsepower? Once you get into the realm of 200+hp (Cartech turbo, Monster Miata, ...) I would agree that the brakes should be reevaluated. But at 150-160hp?? If so, what are we thinking? Cross-drilled rotors and carbon pads, or a complete replacement of rotors and calipers? _ / Jeff Maurer, Staff Analyst _ ___/ _ __ Service & Quality Apps, Sequent Computer Systems, Inc. / / / / / / Uucp: ...!uunet!sequent!jdm / /__/_/ / Internet: jdm@sequent.com __/ (503) 578-5062 "It's a matter of character.
