I took delivery of my Miata in July and didn't notice skipping until the weather turned colder and the shocks stiffened. Of course, tollway rumble strips before toll booths always cause it to skip. The interval between them is always shorter than the recovery time, so there is long silence. I've got the Sensory Surround system and recovery time seems arbitrary. Sometimes it seems that it seeks to the beginning of the track, first, before restarting. I guess that I am just putting up with it. Mine also heats up, but does not stop playing as a result. This really concerned me the first time I noticed it. The CD was really warm. I thought that I had an electrical problem. I took the glove compartment door off and investigated the area around the stereo to see if the wiring harness with the culprit, but everything seemed OK. I guess that it must be the way that the amps are heat sinked, all internally! What a design. :-( Got some Pirelli 190P winter tires which I mounted on stock rims. Handling hasn't suffered, but even though they are just <1/2" in diameter larger, acceleration is worse. At first I wondered who threw out the anchor. tom capek
