I once saw somewhere that "oversteer is when you miss the tree and understeer is when you hit the tree!" In a basic sense, oversteer puts your car on a tighter radius turn. Understeer puts the car on a wider radius turn (than intended). So, if you were on a two lane road going around a left turn oversteer would put you across the centerline and understeer would let you go into the curb or shoulder. Does that help? -alex- Alex M.
