Yes, a lot of people try to come up with reasons why they don't drive fun cars like the miata.
But I've come to the conclusion that a lot of the criticising is just meant to conceal their jalousy.
They find it easier to say "I'd never wanna drive a car like that.  It's dangerous, has no trunk, can take no passengers, ..." than "Great car !  Wished I could afford one", while they actually think the latter.
