Al Jenab sent this, but he was a naughty boy and included the headers of the message he was following up. This causes the mailing list software to think you are an obnoxious bouncy mailer and it sends the mail to me instead of the list. The short version: don't include the headrs when you quote someone else's message. Or else... :-) -Andy Andy Poling Internet: andy@jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu UNIX Systems Programmer Bitnet: ANDY@JHUNIX Homewood Academic Computing Voice: (410)516-8096 Johns Hopkins University UUCP: uunet!mimsy!aplcen!jhunix!andy ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1993 15:53:52 -0500 From: miata@jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu To: andy@jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu Subject: RE>what is it about RX-7's, anyway? Rejected message sent to miata@jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu by SMTP.METSCI.COM!AL.JENAB follows. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike, Depends. I'm fascinated with finding an early (79-83 12A) RX-7 and turning it into an SCCA race car. This RX7 was recently (last year) reclassified from ITS to ITA where it's a lot more competitive. You could conceivably build yourself a pretty good, reliable and fun car for under $4000. Plus they're cool. Won't replace the Miata, though. On the other hand, A Miata is definitely not to a new RX7 what a Chrysler is to a Lincoln. The Miata and the RX7 are like different but equally enjoyable vintages of fine wines (or two great master-brewed ales, for my personal tastes). I WANT BOTH OF THEM. I WANT ONE OF EACH COLOR POSSIBLE. I had an acquaintance many years ago who made a fortune in the televison station ownership business. He had a party over at his house one night, and knowing I was a car nut, and he pulled me aside to show me the contents of his garage. Inside were two nearly identical Lamborghini Espadas, one was black with silver trim, the other black with gold. I asked him why he blew twice the money on the same exact car. He replied: "One for when I'm feeling silver and one for when I'm feeling gold". The Miata to me isn't a stepping stone to something better. It's the best at what it's supposed to be. -Al -------------------------------------- Date: 12/2/93 3:35 PM To: Al Jenab >From: Michael_Day_at_torsales Are all miata owners RX-7 owner wannabees or something? Or is it just manufacturer loyalty? I just seem to get the impression that this list is quietly fascinated with RX-7's. Crysler owners all grow up to want Lincolns, I guess, but do we need to fall prey to the same horrible fate?
