I've got a '91 A package. I have sort of experienced the problem everyone's talking about with the brakes. It happens only if it's very wet and I haven't applied the brakes hard yet for that particular drive. All I do is apply more pressure initially and in a very short (way less than .5 sec.) period of time, the brakes are OK. You just have to remember that the familiar pressure required to stop in different conditions has to be adjusted. I've gotten into the habit, rain or shine, of giving the brakes a good squeeze before going anywhere in any car (brake system: Check!). I think it's a stretch to imply that this is a design flaw, but then maybe what I'm experiencing is not the same as what others are talking about. I've driven some cars with really lousy brakes before, I'd hardly call the Miata's defective uunder these conditions. Hate to raise the old ABS controversy again, but if you begin to forget how to modulate a brake pedal carefully as a part of your daily driving skills and just rely on some computer to do it for you, you ain't paying attention. -Al
