That's correct. Three letters, dash, three figures. Old ones may consist of only five characters. Unlike in the UK (where one can deduce the date the car was put on the road from the plate number) the plate is not tied to the car. Piet RUYSSINCK The mounting's the same in the UK as well. Out of interest, has anyone come up with an excuse for having the adhesive type number plates stuck on the front bumper in place of the standard flat plate. These are illegal in the UK but I've seen several miatas wearing them over here. - Jonathan
