Or just adjust the contact in the brake pedal. In my car at least, it
came from the factory set so that the brake light only went on after
the brake pedal was being pushed almost a third of the way in.  So I
adjusted the little switch on the pedal arm so that the light goes on
immediately at the slightest touch of the pedal.
