Allows one to avoid getting crunched > both front and back. Me too, although apparently not enough last night. The woman behind me on the freeway wasn't watching when traffic came to a stop. I ate up my "crunch space" (couldn't go left since there's no longer an emergency lane), and she ate up three car lengths in no time. Nothing to do but brace for impact and watch the horror unravel in my rear-view. I avoided hitting the car in front of me, but it looks like I'm off to "insurance adjustment land". Not fun. A cursory look turned up a cracked bumper shroud but no sheet metal damage. Since some of you have also been hit from behind, any recommendations on damage to look for? I'm thinking that the frame should be checked for alignment. Having never been through this before, any recommendations on dealing w/ the insurance people and body shops appreciated too. Thanks in advance.
