>[Andy and I have been having an off-line discussion about "flapping" boot >covers and I wonder if anyone else has been attaching theirs the wrong >way - Alan] I have found that very few owners know the correct way to attach the top cover. Dealers tell them the wrong thing. I have been on a crusade to rectify this situation, and am usually met with wierd looks (as in "am I really this strange to think this important?":-). Then with thanks when the cornered owner realizes the difference it makes. >On Tue, 4 Jan 1994, Alan Dahl wrote: >>I first got my car I always looped them around the upper top bow with the >>little jog in it that *looks* like the place to attach the strap. When I read this, I thought that maybe Alan was reposting something I wrote, as this is exactly what happened to me. The dealer said tie the cover to the upper bar, and lo and behold, it did not work very well. A close inspection of the owners manual showed what Alan found to be correct. When the cover is on right you will know it. It will not flap at all. As a matter of fact, it will be difficult to attach because you have to give the strap a good tug to make it reach. Just remember folks, if the cover strap is easy to attach, you're attaching it to the wrong bar. Now, those of you who have stopped using the cover because it did not fit well, repent and try it again. You'll like it. Tom Tkacik tkacik@adtaz.sps.mot.com
