Fellow fiends: Well, at last we got the first "big" snow of the season (still going on as we type) and boy is this great or what! Only two inches on the ground for the drive in but sheer delight. I can go to the KMart parking lot tonight and do some fish tails (just like in grad school with my roommate's VW!) People in the "parking structure" looked at me this morning, getting out of my red '91, as if I was just in from Mars. How I pitty those unfeeling fwd econo-sedan drivers! On a more serious note: I have a question for hard top owners. I am having a hard time making sure that all adjustments on the top's clamps and such are optimized. Depending upon the temperature, the top seems very loose and on hard bumps I hear what almost sounds like a craking sound from the rear window area (tho I have adjusted the slide clamps under the chrome pieces at the back). I am also concerned that the top is in some way stressing the door windows (pushing down on the glass during hard bumps). Am I just going crazy worrying about this stuff or have others had "trouble" getting the top "tuned" to the car? I understand that temperature changes might cause the top and the car to expand or contract slightly wrt each other. Maybe there is no perfect combination of adjustments? Hints? Comments? Needless-to-say, I also wonder if the hard top was even worth the $$$. Am I warmer, safer, dryer or anything but poorer for having it? I ain't so sure.
