You know I fully expected that participation in our local club (Puget Sound Chapter, the 1st local chapter, BTW) would drop off after a while. I'm pleased to see this hasn't happened. As we enter our fifth year the chapter continues to grow (up to 260 members now). Quite a long way from the 9 or 10 people at the first meeting. As the "old guard" has stepped out of the way there have always been new people willing to step in and lead events. We've done rallys and tours and autocrosses and participation continues to grow with each event. In fact, some times it can get to be a problem. A tour with 10 cars is easy to plan but once you start getting 30 cars or more coordination gets a bit more difficult. Maybe it's the car and the fact that our enthusiasm hasn't waned over the years but I think what really makes the Miata club special are the people. Let's face it, Miata owners are some of the nicest and most interesting people there are :-). I hope our club (both locally and nationally) continues to grow and I look forward to many more fun events in the future. Who knows, maybe we'll be getting together 30 years from now and exchanging stories on how we tracked down this rare part or how we found this mint Miata under a tarp in a barn :-). --- ___ __ ___ Alan Dahl | alan.dahl@mccaw.com -or- /_ / / / Analysts International Co. | adahl@axysdev.nwest.mccaw.com / / _/_ /___ 10655 N.E. 4th St. Suite 804 | (NeXTMail OK) Bellevue, WA 98004 | PH: (206) 803-4496 | FAX: (206) 803-4901
