I have the same black marks on my top as well.. We've tried alot of
different cleaners and have had little luck so far in removing them.
Simple-Green cleaner and a toothrush (I reccomend using an old one )
seems to work best, but it takes ALOT of scrubbing and it still doesn't
remove the marks completely.
