Ever since I got my catlytic converter replaced I've had this "booming" sor t of sound at freeway speeds. Does this sound like your problem? Since at the sa me Yes, it is a constant booming sound, especially noticeable at speed, which is why I attributed it to tire noise at first. time my heat shield rattle was also fixed I assumed that the sound came fro m the exhaust system rubbing on something. Now I'm going to go see if the sou nd goes away when I switch the engine off at freeway speeds. If it doesn't the n I switched off the engine while crusing at about 40 mph and the noise was still there so it's definitely not motor/exhaust related. To those who suggest I get rid of my female passenger, I did! but the noise didn't go away (though the complain did, so I guess it is somewhat attenuated, .) - Steve.
