In regards to window defogging. I think everyone knows its caused by the difference in temperature (primarily) and humidity (secondarily) between the outside environs and the passenger compartment. You can defog a window by blowing warm, dry air onto it (a defogger) or dehumidify the air (via an airconditioner). Both methods are effective if you localize the effect to the offending spot or completely dry the air. Localizing defogging to a particular spot is how those wire defoggers work and drying the air is how the air conditioners function. Both can be 100% effective. If you're having trouble defogging with your airconditioners (which some say they use infrequently) watch out, you probably have leaked coolant and they really don't work anymore (except by blowing outside air into the passenger compartment). In closing, those wire defoggers work by warming the particular spot to a point where the heat elminates the water vapor from condesning on the glass pane. marv
