I have (pretty much always had) a related phenomenon: the drivers- side electric window squeals when operating in the rain (with the top up: I hadn't known that top-down was dry over 40mph). Other than that, though, it's quiet. The other day while driving at a constant highway speed in the subzero cold, I heard a metallic clunk on several occasions. Nothing seemed to be wrong, but now I get a loud buzzing resonance at 3250 rpm. Is this the famous catalytic converter detachment problem? Also, thanks to all who told me I could adjust my washer jets by moving the ball in its socket. Unfortunately, I tried this on a cold day (there seemed to be some wax buildup too), and the high- quality stainless-steel precision instrument I was using snapped off in the orifice. However, either the adjustment was successful and the rod was subsequently blown out (or is in the tubing some- where), or the rod is acting as an internal deflector. In any event, the spray now misses the wiper airfoil, so all is well. (Also I think I will stick to software - I've never yet lost a broken off loop in the works). Cheers, Andrew shaw@apache.att.com
