Hi folks, I've got a co-worker that has a 91 Miata he calls a lemon. Apparently he's had quite a few problems since he bought it new. His current problem is that his engine drops to about 250 RPM and recovers when stopping with the clutch in. This is an intermittant problem that generally happens when the engine is warm. We're kind of captive here in Las Cruces NM for Mazda dealers. Here's a chronology of the work the dealer's done to date: 7/17/93 -- tightened air tube set idle 11/9/93 -- re-gap spark plugs #4 plug loose oil on plug wire -- cleaned and reinstalled 12/17/93 -- replaced ISC valve and gasket 1/13/94 -- adjusted idle from 750 to 850 Each of these has corrected the problem for a while. Anyone out there have similar problems or have suggestions on what to do? I think it might need new wires. By the way, the mileage is about 34000. I've got a 93 with about 20000 on it and haven't had a lick of problem with it. His problems include having the carpets replaced due to them pulling out from the sides. He's even had his computer module replaced in 91. Can't say he's very happy with his car. Any response is appreciated. TIA Bill Bill Freeman wfreeman@acca.nmsu.edu
