Fellow fiends: For the record, old red '91 has approx. 24K miles and has suffered no serious faults, but with that in mind I have been quite satisfied with my treatment at Arnold Mazda in metro Detroit. The deal was, uh, ok, but I am a lousy haggler. The service department has been professional, if not warm and fuzzy. I can't complain. On the other hand, also being a defender of those pathetic British sports cars of long ago, I can't help but see a bit of history sort of repeating it self if a basically nice car gets lousy treatment by dull witted mechanics and greedy dealers. What kind of reputation will the Miata have in ten or fifteen years if such nasty stories persist? After a while, it doesn't matter what the car was like as it rolled off the assembly line. It does matter what the car is like five years down the lane, after mediocre to poor service and a reputation for unskilled maintenance. Hopefully american car mfgs. have gotten this message. It would be a bizarre irony if the Japanese (at least Mazda) somehow forgets it. Will "There he goes again, and again, and again, and again..." Zehring
