Fellow fiends: Well, I thought I would give it a try so I went to the winter planning meeting of my local MCA chapter and thought I would start to get involved in things. I regret to report that though some eleven club events are planned for the up and coming (I know it's out there) driving season, only two of them actually involved driving (a fall leaf tour and crashing in on an SCCA autox). It appears that the local club is actually more of a social orgainization wherein we all drive our Miatas to a parking lot, leave them there and then go do something irelevant like attend a football game or visit an aquarium. Sorry, but that isn't what I had in mind. Sorry also for this proto-flame, but it does lead to my next question... Soooo... I am appealing to the vast caverns of net.wisdom for cool fun car-oriented things that I can suggest and (gasp!) maybe even organize for my local chapter. Anyone out there into these sorts of things that has come up with clever get-togethers? A rally would be a hit but to be honest I am looking for a less complicated thing to start things off with. They can be a lot of work. In general I suppose the event should be legal, though I would be interested to hear any (slightly) illegal suggestions. There seems to be a heavy representaion of mid/late40's middle managers in this club, none of whom rebel sans cause. A surprising number of these guys don't actually drive their miatas at all: the club president has a 1990 A pkg that he bought new and now has managed to stuff a whole 4000 miles on the clock. Am I missing the point here or... Oh well, I still have ole red '91 and the warm sun on my balding head! regards, Will "Shaken, not stirred" Zehring
