thanks for the quick response. problem solved - a thick coat of grease
to the front hood latch - I have been living with this for over a year
and while I think this is the best car - short of 50K - I ALMOST SOLD OUT.
I Too had the spark plug wire problem - 100.00 to the dealer (common problem 
I understand). 
Otherwise a near perfect car - it was only warm.
(40 f with the top down yesterdaif it was only warmer
