Cats, can I relate to Cats. I've got one, plus there are several in the neighborhood. On top of that, I only have a carport. Much time and thought has gone into an effective deterent , but I have yet to find something that is effortless. Presently I have a tarp that is suspended via rope over the Miata that can be lowered and secured via bunggy cords attached to each corner of the tarp. I also sprayed the top of this tarp with "anti-pet" spray to discourage them as well. Well, It does work pretty well, and only takes about a minute to lower and attach the bunggy ends under the miata bumpers, but I am bassically lazy and hate to use it when the car is dirty, for then the tarp will get dirty and also there's the chance of scrathing the paint with all that dirt. The whole thing cost about $20 to put together. In other words, it works, but you need to keep your Miata clean to feal confortable using it on a long term basis. I read a while back in one of those Miata toy catalogs about a motion sensor device you place on your top when it's parked, that will emit some sort of frequency that cats and such don't like that should go off as soon as they get near. It was around $30, but I never looked into it. Never seen it since, so my guess is it didn't work to well. Anyone else know about this? ---JCG.
