Tom asks how long I've been doing this and if the hydrocarbons damage the top .... I did it only when the cats came .... By hydrocarbons I guess you mean the alcohol base most perfumes use ... it vaporizes verrrrry quickly and leaves the perfume residue .. which is often again some organic compound .... I don't worry so much so long as my top is clean...ie., with armour all for a coating.... theory wise, only a large chain hyrdocarbon, like kerosene or gasoline, could damage the top ....as far as vinyl is concerned. I really cant' say for long range effects, I don't see any, and I use soooooo little ...when needed (primarily now underarm deoderant as needed.) If you worry about this, you could leave a small bottle top with a paper towel and put the drops of perfume there .... marv
